On February 21, 2014, in London, at the headquarters of the Representation of the Russian Federal Agency for the Affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States, an international symposium on "Traditional values ​​in the age of globalization." was held. The event was organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate and the Diocese of London in the Church of England.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the UK, Mr Alexander Yakovenko, participants addressed the inaugural speech. The Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion presented the paper on "Christian values ​​in the age of globalization."

Lord Stephen Green devoted his speech to the moral dimension in trade relations. Ben Quash, Professor of Christianity and Fine Arts, Kings College of London, also gave a presentation.The symposium was also attended by Dr. James Walters of the London School of Economics, and Professor Alexander Torkunov, rector of the State Institute of International Relations in Moscow (University), who presented a paper on the theme of the meeting.

At the end of the symposium, Professor Alexander Aghajanian, Russian State University of Humanitarian Sciences, presented a paper analysing the statement of Archbishop Rowan Williams and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on the subject of "religion and secular world. "

The closing address was given by the Bishop of London, Richard Chartres (Church of England).

That evening, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia in the UK, Mr Alexander Yakovenko, offered dinner at his residence in honor of the participants of the symposium.
