Since President Putin's remarks touched upon, and have in part been aimed at, the Ukrainian Greek-Catholics of Ukraine, with false accusations of extremist political links despite their true role as peace-makers in the crisis, and in view of that Church's suppression for 40 years in Western Ukraine by Soviet Russia, preceded by many more decades of persecution of Eastern Catholics in Russia, Belarus, Eastern Ukraine under both the Soviet Union and the Tsardom, it is worth noting this robust response from the British Government to Russian claims concerning the social, ethnic and political position in Ukraine.
