Very sadly, the Divine Liturgy in English at 9-30 am on Sundays at the Holy Family Cathedral, Lower Church, have had to be put on hold. Until the practicalities we cannot use the Lower Church space. Hopefully this will be resolved very soon. Please keep checking in here for details.

Owing to public health guidance, masks should still be worn indoors and distance maintained. Sanitisers are available. Holy Communion is distributed in both kinds from the mixed and common chalice, by means of a separate Communion spoon for each individual communicant.

Ukrainian Diaspora: Metropolia for Ukrainian Catholic Church in Brazil



It is the southern hemisphere that is  becoming the new home for the diaspora of Eastern Christians, Catholic, Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, in significant number. At last, Pope Francis has approved a Metropolitan See and Province for the Catholic faithful in Brazil belonging to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. Glory be to God!

City, 12 May 2014 (VIS) – The Holy Father has:

elevated the eparchy of Sao Joao Batista in Curitiba of the Ukrainians to the
rank of archieparchy, conserving the same title. He appointed Bishop Valdomiro
Koubetch, O.S.B.M., previously bishop of the same eparchy, as first
metropolitan archbishop.



-
erected the eparchy of the Imaculada Conceicao in Prudentopolis of the
Ukrainians, Brazil, with territory from the newly established archieparchy of
Sao Joao Batista in Curitiba, making it a suffragan of the same archieparchy.
He appointed Bishop Meron Mazur, O.S.B.M., auxiliary of Curitiba, as first
eparchial bishop of the new circumscription.
